The next meeting about the apartment project meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday July 27 at 6pm. It will probably be at the Westchester community center / councilman’s office again.
This time we’ll be meeting with not only Chris Robertson and her team, but also CIM. More negotiations on what we want for them to make the project palatable.
I’ll update this post as details get confirmed.
Jim
It was recommended that we let the LA City Planning Department know how we feel, and specifically the “accomodations” that the apartment project has already put in for us, so that the city’s requests do not get addressed at the expense of our concerns.
Here is a letter you can copy and paste in an e-mail to Oliver Netburn – oliver.netburn@lacity.org at the LA City Planning Department.
Dear Los Angeles Planning Department,
Regarding DIR 2015-583-SPR, 8820 South Sepulveda Eastway
I am a resident in the neighborhood directly adjacent to this project. Many people in the neighborhood are against this project for a variety of reasons. As this project moves forward, I wanted to remind you of some of the features of the project that were put in to accommodate some of our concerns, so that these features will not be sacrificed for other needs or desires.
These features include:
Thank you for keeping these features, and any others added in the interest of harmony with the neighborhood, in mind and at the top of the priority list as the project moves forward.
Sincerely,
Because of abuse from bad internet citizens, self registration has been turned off.
Until the site is updated with a better registration process, please e-mail jim@thegerkens.net to register if you would like to contribute. Send your name, address, e-mail address, and login name you’d like to use.
Thanks.
We’re meeting with Chris Robertson, Deputy Director of Land Use & Planning for Councilman Bonin, on Monday July 20, 2015 at 6pm at the Westchester Community building.
The plan is to emphasize our objections and discuss modifications to the project that will overcome those objections.
If you are planning to attend, please let Jim Gerken know by e-mail at jim@thegerkens.net so we can get the appropriate sized room.
Councilman Bonin’s office would like to meet with the community again in the next week or so. If you are interested in attending this meeting please contact Jim Gerken (8849 Kittyhawk) at jim@thegerkens.net.
If there is anything that you think would make the La Tijera apartment project more acceptable, please be ready to quickly explain your request at the meeting.
The next meeting about the apartment project is the public hearing on the Mititgated Negative Declaration (MND).

Posts to the site will be announced on Twitter. Follow @NPNHOrg to be notified when there are new posts to this site.
Okay, the full web site name is quite a mouthful – NielsenParkNeighborhood.org. We’ve added a shortcut that takes you to the same place – npnh.org.
Feel free to use either.
Some of you may have received the Notice of Public Hearing for the La Tijera Apartments project. It’s attached below. If you didn’t here you go. Either way, please share with your neighbors. It’s important that we attend and have a voice.
This meeting will be July 15, 2015 at 2pm, Los Angeles City Hall Room 1020. LA City Hall is 200 N. Spring String. Important – this is DOWNTOWN.
This meeting will be like many other government meetings – we’ll have limited time to express our opinions and ask questions, so please be prepared and know what you want to say.
